Udayam Theatre is a multiplex located in Chennai. The complex includes four cinemas: Udhayam, Mini Udhayam, Suriyan and Chandran. The 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) theatre complex is located on a 1.31 acres (5,300 m2) plot on 100 feet (30 m) road in K. K. Nagar. The complex was built by 6 brothers in 1983.
Udhayam Complex had three theaters (Udhayam, Suriyan & Chandiran) when it was built in 1983. Later Udhayam theatre was split into Udhayam and Mini Udhayam. Recently there were talks that Sathyam Cinemas will take over Udayam Theaters under their brand name. But these talks proved to be rumors as official word from Sathyam mentioned that they have no plans to take over Udayam Theatre.The udayam theatre is one among the oldest functioning cinema theatres in chennai.
