New York Jazz Academy is a New York City-based music school offering instruction to musicians of all ages and levels. The school opened in October 2009 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. A year later, it expanded to multiple locations around Manhattan, in addition to Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, and Mineola, Long Island. It also partners with major jazz clubs for outreach concerts and hosts custom workshops for out-of-town students. Courses include vocal workshops, instrumental studies, small and large ensembles, theory and harmony classes, and online programs. New York Jazz Academy stresses a "cross-training" curriculum in private lessons that incorporates valuable classical repertoire into each student's course of study in jazz.
